Recognition Types

The "How to" of recognition can be broken down into three primary methods, The actual act of recognizing is often a combination of the three.

Public Personal Recognition

  • Recognition which has a positive effect on reinforcing desired behaviors not only of the individual who receives the recognition but all the people who view and participate in the recognition process
  • Recognition which commits the individual to a performance level they must live up to on an ongoing basis providing a continous and aggressive performance standard

Private Personal Recognition

  • Recognition which devotes sincere time and attention in expressing praise and/or appreciation for exhibiting appropriate behaviors and results
  • Recogntion which is easily and frequently awarded to individuals within the organization.

Peer Recognition

  • Recognition received, in many cases, from outside the formal organization from associations and/or groups to which the individual belongs or participates
  • Recognition offered by the individuals with whom the awardee interacts on a regular basis
