Create tooling, dies, models and molds to be used in the production of jewelry. Using 3D software, non-technical drawings, and input from Sales, you'll create 3D drawing to be used by technicians in the manufacture of tools for jewelry production.
Capabilities
- Interfaces with Sales, Product Management, and customers to understand design requirements and facilitate correct production standards.
- Creates CAD designs, layouts, and models using Rhino, Matrix and ArtCam / Carveco.
- Creates and works with designs in 3-D (i.e. wire-frame, surfaces, and solids).
- Confers with Engineering, Marketing, Production and/or Sales departments, or with customers, to establish and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products.
- Assists in the production of tooling by working with model maker, toolmakers, tooling related issues.
- Applies standard methods of formatting CAD output to meet company standards and customer needs.
- Coordinates the look and function and manufacturability of product.
- Modifies and refines designs to conform to customer specifications, and production limitations.
- Evaluates feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, and production methods.
- Interfaces with appropriate engineering and manufacturing services personnel to ensure manufacturing feasibility of design and apply team concepts to product design.
- Work closely with other Designers for data transfer.
- Develop and recommend solutions to design challenges.
- Keep abreast of existing and new technologies that are applicable to areas of responsibility.
- Manage IP (intellectual property) within area of responsibility.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to those assigned.

Qualifications
- Associates degree in an engineering discipline or CAD/CAM programming preferred.
- Three years of CAD/CAM experience.
- Experience with Art Cam / Carveco and Rhino preferred.
- Ability to effectively translate CAD data (i.e. DXF, IGES, and STP) required.
- Must be proficient with Windows and PC applications.
- Familiarity/experience programming CNC machines and equipment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Desire to grow skills in CAD and parametric modeling.
- Other 3D program software knowledge a plus: Rhino Grasshopper and MatrixGold
Compensation
$30-$45 / hour Depending on experience
